Domaine Dupré-Goujon - Côte de Brouilly 6.3.1 2021
93/100
James Suckling
“This is an elegant wine with great character—deep and refined.”
"[...] this excellent 2021 Cote-de-Brouilly has a delicate nose of violets. The ripeness is excellent for this challenging vintage. On the palate, the acidity is more invigorating than tart, and the wine is medium-bodied. The firm tannins lend great vitality to the long finish." (James Suckling 2024)

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Selected Estates (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
Over the course of just a few vintages, the duo of Sébastien Dupré and Guillaume Goujon has established a confident and ambitious style. Longtime friends, they honed their skills under Frédéric Pourtalié at the Montcalmès estate for eight years, taking over from his cousin Vincent Guizard. After gaining some experience, they released their first vintage in 2015 with the iconic 6.3.1 cuvée, a blend from their vineyards (60% L’Héronde, 30% Le Pavé, 10% Brûlhier).

Wine rated (2024 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
Still a bit closed (perhaps due to late bottling), this excellent 2021 Côte-de-Brouilly has a delicate violet aroma. The ripeness is excellent for this challenging vintage. On the palate, the acidity is more stimulating than tart, and the wine is medium-bodied. The firm tannins lend great vibrancy to the long finish.

Medium-deep to deep ruby color with a purple core. On the nose: crushed red berries, earthiness, geranium, leather, barn, and indigenous yeasts (a hint of that natural wine character). Beautiful and recognizable Beaujolais aromas. On the palate, crisp red berries and some raspberries, nice acidity, and soft, fine-grained tannins that provide grip and tension. Juicy, crisp, fruity, earthy, sufficient body, lots of primary fruit. Character and conviction. So pure and typical Gamay. Aging potential. Score: 16+/20
