Côte-de-Brouilly
The Côte-de-Brouilly Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) is a municipal appellation that has been recognized since 1938. The Côte-de-Brouilly vineyard covers approximately 310 hectares spread across the municipalities of Saint-Lager, Odenas, Cercié, and Quincié.

The soils consist of metatuff and metadiorite, hard rock of volcanic origin, the famous “blue stone” of Côte-de-Brouilly. The western slope of the hill also features pink granite. The vineyards of Côte-de-Brouilly are situated around Mont Brouilly, making this the only cru in Beaujolais to benefit from vineyards oriented toward all four cardinal directions. The grape variety used is, as throughout the Beaujolais region, Gamay noir à jus blanc. The 80 winemakers producing Côte-de-Brouilly wine have been focusing in recent years on developing direct sales and distribution through the hospitality sector: over 40% of the cru is sold directly in major European countries. Côte-de-Brouilly is nonetheless a quality wine, as are particularly the wines offered by Maison Coquard, Domaine Laurent Martray, Château Thivin, Domaine Daniel Bouland, and Domaine des Terres Dorées.
