Brouilly hillside
The Côte-de-Brouilly appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) has been a recognized communal appellation since 1938. The Côte-de-Brouilly vineyard covers approximately 310 hectares in the communes of Saint-Lager, Odenas, Cercié, and Quincié.

The soils are composed of metatuffs and metadiorites, hard rocks of volcanic origin, the famous "blue stone" of Côte-de-Brouilly. The western slope of the hill also contains pink granite. The Côte-de-Brouilly vineyards are located around Mont Brouilly, making it the only Beaujolais cru to benefit from vineyards facing all four cardinal points. As in the rest of Beaujolais, the grape variety used is Gamay noir à jus blanc. For several years now, the 80 winegrowers producing Côte-de-Brouilly wine have been focusing on developing direct sales and marketing through the hotel and restaurant network: more than 40% of the cru is sold directly in the main European countries. Côte-de-Brouilly is nonetheless a quality wine, as are the products offered by Maison Coquard, Domaine Laurent Martray, Château Thivin, Domaine Daniel Bouland, and Domaine des Terres Dorées.
