A very fruity Fleurie with notes of sour cherries and cherries, accented by peony and a hint of mint. On the palate, its youthfulness comes through delicately, and notes of warm spices mingle with the cherries, all underpinned by a lovely freshness. A true treat!

About the estate:
Owned by the Lafont family for several generations, this estate perched on the Bel-Air hill overlooks the Ardières Valley: blue granite buildings constructed in 1849, vaulted cellars, and a 23-hectare vineyard with plots across five crus. At the helm since 1985, Jean-Marc Lafont has established a wine trading company bearing his name to round out his portfolio.

This was my second tasting of this wine in 2023—a huge disappointment. It’s an austere wine with very little fruit. Not a good example of the appellation.
