Their combined efforts have improved the quality of the grapes, and the rigorous plot-by-plot selection is beginning to bear fruit. We are impressed by the consistency of the lineup and its cornerstones: the fruit’s natural spontaneity, its sweetness, and the precise character of each vintage.

While 2020 was a success, 2021 is proving to be less ambitious. After a lively attack, this Fleurie—a wine of great simplicity—is fresh, graceful, and invigorating all at once, framed by soft, still-somewhat-closed tannins, with notes of juicy morello cherries complemented by blackberry and plum, underpinned by a generous, almost biting mineral acidity at this stage, which lends energy and length. It seems it would benefit from a little patience. The price is not very convincing. This authentic, light Gamay is meant for everyday meals, preferably local dishes, such as brioche-style sausage or a Lyon-style pâté en croûte. Rating = 3.6.
