The palate is smooth, straightforward, and vibrant, highlighting a very rich and slightly spicy character, supported by silky, refined tannins, and enhanced by a very pronounced mineral note—which nonetheless lends the wine a bit of length on the finish with a salty undertone. Let’s wait a bit for the sharpness of the acidity to mellow. This Chénas, with its sparkling and approachable profile, will pair easily with veal Marengo or veal rolls with tomato sauce. Score = 3.9.
