“Licorice, cherry, blackberry, black tea, and notes of resin from the old oak barrels in which it was aged, with a lingering finish for this very well-crafted 2011 Morgon Domaine de la Chanaise. A lovely tannic texture, a well-integrated hint of gamey notes, mineral nuances, and a soft juiciness of small fruits. It should be enjoyable through 2015, if not longer.” (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated 3 stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Fresh and fruity, with an elegant, concentrated finish; rich and indulgent, with good structure—an accessible Morgon in its own right.
About the estate:
A leading figure in the Beaujolais region in general and in Morgon in particular, Dominique Piron—joined by his partner Julien Révillon—has developed a solid range of Beaujolais wines. Across more than 100 hectares, seven appellations are represented, with Morgon naturally making up the majority. With a refined style and expressive aromas, while retaining the distinctive character of their terroir, the estate’s wines are all outstanding.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2023 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
As the heir to 14 generations of winemakers, Dominique Piron handed over the reins of the family estate in 2020 to Julien Revillon, his business partner since 2013. Revillon now oversees some 50 hectares, comprising both the estate’s own vineyards and grapes purchased for the merchant division.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2012 guide) 16,5/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
The generous bouquet of this Morgon evokes ripe red fruit, underpinned by spicy notes. The clean attack gives way to a full-bodied, warm palate featuring a subtle blend of fruit and freshness. Beautiful length.

Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2024 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
The morgons are also very well crafted.
About the estate:
Julien Revillon, assisted by his talented winemaker Pierre Meunier, continues Dominique Piron’s legacy with consistency and flair. The duo is supported by vineyard manager Thibaud Lemaître, whose assistance has become essential for overseeing an estate spanning 90 hectares. Their joint efforts have improved the quality of the grapes, and the plot-by-plot selection process they’ve undertaken is beginning to bear fruit. We’re impressed by the consistency of the lineup and its cornerstones: the fruit’s natural spontaneity, its sweetness, and the precise character of each cru.
