Jean-Marc Lafont - Bel-Air Estate
Jean-Marc Lafont and his wife Annick took over the Bel-Air estate in 1985, producing wines of great expression that are the result of a perfect balance between tradition and modernity. Since 1996, Jean-Marc Lafont has also been selecting wines from the Beaujolais and Mâconnais appellations.

All the vines, with an average age of 40 years, have been planted at a density of 9,000 to 10,000 vines per hectare, combined with short pruning, in order to get the best out of the Gamay grape variety. The vineyards have been managed using sustainable methods since 1995, and this environmentally friendly technique allows for the production of more natural wines. The terroirs, located on slopes with gradients of 20 to 38%, make mechanization virtually impossible, so the work is mainly done by hand. The harvest, which is also done by hand, is spread over a fortnight depending on the maturity of the terroirs.

Each of Jean-Marc Lafont's terroirs is vinified in small vats in order to obtain consistent and typical cuvées that are blended according to their originality and structure. The only concession to progress is temperature control, which preserves the original aromas of our terroirs.
