Château Lacaussade Saint-Martin

Château Lacaussade Saint-Martin in the Bordeaux region has been owned by Jacques Chardat since 1991. The vineyard is located along the Gironde estuary, directly across from the Médoc’s Grands Crus Classés. The vineyards of Château Lacaussade Saint-Martin aresituated on the first hillsides bordering the river and benefit from both mild temperatures and extraordinary sunlight.

The vineyard of Château Lacaussade Saint-Martin stretches along the famous limestone vein that runs from Blaye straight north, following the Gironde estuary. With a surface layer of a few dozen centimeters of gray clay mixed with limestone pebbles and superb sea urchin fossils, it constitutes a poor terroir, ideal for Merlot and Cabernet vines.

Great determination and the awareness of being in the presence of a prodigious terroir drove Jacques Chardat to take the Château Lacaussade Saint-Martin vineyard head-on to produce Premières Côtes de Blaye appellation wines full of charm and grandeur.
