Château Montfollet
Château Montfollet is located in the heart of the finest terroirs of the Blaye appellation, in the Bordeaux region. This family-owned estate, comprising forty hectares of vineyards, is situated on the clay-gravel and clay-limestone slopes overlooking the Gironde estuary. Château Montfollet has been owned by the Raimond family for three generations.
Today, committed to unlocking the potential of these magnificent terroirs while respecting the environment, Dominique Raimond, a passionate winemaker, employs every technical means at his disposal to make Château Montfollet a truly great wine. The various stages of vineyard management meet multiple requirements: reducing the vines’ vigor while ensuring their long-term health, promoting grape ripening, respecting the surrounding flora and fauna, cultivating the soil beneath the rows, and allowing natural grass cover between the rows. Pruning is rigorous, and leaf removal and thinning ensure excellent ripeness of the grape clusters. Finally, disease and pest control is carried out using integrated pest management to protect the environment and the Château Montfollet vineyard.
As the harvest approaches, daily monitoring determines the optimal harvest date, plot by plot. At Château Montfollet, the winemaking process is overseen by the cellar master, a Bordeaux-certified oenologist, assisted by Christian Veyry, a renowned consulting oenologist in the Bordeaux region.
