Notes: Guide Hachette 2** (Remarkable Wine), Bettane & Desseauve 15/20
“A dense and concentrated wine, with a fruity bouquet enhanced by slightly dominant oak, powerful tannins, and a finish that is still somewhat reserved.” (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2011 - Bettane & Desseauve). Producing a great wine begins first and foremost with the quality of care given to the vines. A thousand small steps to reach the ultimate goal. All the work of the year is rewarded in this 2007 vintage, which is dense, expressive, and endowed with lovely tannins. A must-have, often compared to a grand cru!

Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

The 67 hectares of vineyards on this family-owned estate overlook the Gironde estuary, directly across from Margaux’s most prestigious wines. Determined to unlock the potential of these magnificent terroirs while respecting the environment, Dominique Raimond employs every possible method of cultivation and winemaking to produce a great wine from the Blaye region. The whites are generally very aromatic, with lovely tension and a perfect balance of freshness. The Côtes-de-Bourg Cuvée Altus is always top-notch, as is the grand vin from Blaye-Côtes-de-Bordeaux. A flagship estate in both appellations. Montfollet is part of the Châteaux Solidaires association, which brings together ten winemakers from the Blaye region who retain their own identities while sharing cellars and equipment in a cooperative spirit. Château Haut-Prieur is part of this association, and its 2016 vintage is superb.
