This Poupée vintage from François Janoueix comes from two plots located in the Beauregard area and west of Cheval Blanc. The soil consists of gravel and ancient sand, and the vines are in their radiant fifties.

I had a problem opening it—only half the cork came out. Average to decent Bordeaux; I was perhaps expecting a little better, but for the price, it’s respectable. I wavered between 2/5 and 3/5, but the cork issue made me give it a 2/5.
