About the estate:

“This charming estate on the banks of the Gironde, in the Ambès area, was completely renovated by Antoine Touton, a native of Bordeaux who made his fortune importing cocoa. For a good ten years now, he has been producing wines of steadily improving quality—largely dominated by Merlot—on marshy soils (clay and alluvial deposits). Under the guidance of oenologist Alain Raynaud, the most recent vintages have gained body, offering more intense concentration thanks to a higher level of ripeness and lower yields. Sainte-Barbe offers pleasant, approachable red wines at attractive prices.”

One big regret: not buying more of it. Delicious—it goes down way too easily. It would drive the cook of a veal Marengo to despair.
