Château Lamothe de Haux
Château Lamothe de Haux is located in the commune of Haux, on the right bank of the Garonne River, southeast of Bordeaux. The vineyard covers 80 hectares of vines in theCôtes de Bordeaux Cadillac and Bordeaux appellations,onclay-limestone soils.Château Lamothe de Haux is a residence whose foundations date back to the 16th century. Since 1956, four generations of the same family have succeeded one another. Anne Neel is now at the helm, accompanied by her children Maria and Damien Chombart.
Since 2017, Maria and Damien Chombart, owners of Château Lamothe de Haux, have sought to promote the noble Bordeaux grape varieties of Sémillon, Merlot, and Cabernet, while breaking with the classic codes of Bordeaux. The château's wine trading structure, "Les Vins Choisis," offers red and white Bordeaux wines under the Madame Étienne label, in homage to the estate's owner in the 1920s.
Over time, the Lamothe de Haux vineyard has evolved, with the purchase of the Château Manos vineyards in 1991 and major developments to the cellar in underground galleries, which house more than 300 barrels undergoing aging and bottles in storage.
The red wines are mainly made from Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc; the white wines are made from the traditional Sauvignon and Sémillon, complemented by Muscadelle.
