Rated estate (2012 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
“Merlot, which makes up the vast majority (90%) of this vineyard with its very modest yields, gives Jonqueyres’ wines a very pure fruitiness and true harmony, without any harshness. The estate—which also cultivates the Clos Alphonse Dubreuil in Côtes de Bourg—is impeccably managed, with a beautiful legacy of old vines. The most recent vintages impress with their depth of tannins. They are at their best when young. Château Les Jonqueyres is currently in the process of converting to organic farming. We are awarding it its first star.”
