Graves de Vayres

Graves-de-Vayres AOP is a French wine available in white and red varieties, produced in the communes of Vayres and Arveyres. This appellation is located in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards, halfway between Bordeaux and Saint-Émilion, north of Entre-deux-Mers, on the left bank of the Dordogne. It has been well known and highly regarded since the mid-19th century. The appellation is the second oldest in Bordeaux and the magnificent Château de Vayres is a majestic testament to its historic past. The soils consist of gravelly terrain, successive layers of alluvial deposits from the Dordogne River, ochre clay, sand, and very soft silt. These soils allow Merlot in particular to flourish and express its typical characteristics to the fullest.Graves de Vayres wines successfully combine roundness and silky tannins with minerality and finesse.
