"A flagship wine of the appellation, in top form in its 2022 vintage!"

A benchmark wine for the appellation, in top form in its 2022 vintage. The jury appreciated the clarity of the color and, above all, the exceptional, very pure nose, where the oak takes a back seat to the brilliance of the fruit (citrus, pineapple, almond). On the palate, the wine delivers a creamy, full-bodied, and luminous texture, supported by a very salivating mineral acidity that stretches the fruit out endlessly. A white wine with a capital W.” (Guide Hachette 2025)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2018 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the estate:

This brand, named after Florence and Denis Dubourdieu, has benefited from the expertise and marketing acumen of the renowned Bordeaux oenologist, who sadly passed away in 2016. The whites, which express the astonishing minerality of a limestone terroir more than the varietal aromas of the local grape varieties, are incomparable. A small quantity of red wine, meticulously crafted and now matching the perfection of the white, is also produced. These are undoubtedly the stars of the appellation! The wines, both red and white (the white being better known due to its longer history), border on perfection, regardless of the vintage. The white wine offers great minerality, refined and exceptionally pure aromas, body, elegance, freshness, and an irresistible balance. The red, classic and elegant, is equally impressive.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Well known among wine enthusiasts, this estate is the creation of the “pope of Bordeaux white wines,” oenologist Denis Dubourdieu, who passed away in 2016. For many years now, Clos Floridène has undeniably been one of the appellation’s most reliable choices. The most striking aspect of the production lies in the profound classicism it expresses: far removed from the heavy, woody, and overly exuberant caricatures of white wines often found in ambitious Bordeaux châteaux, the Floridène white is a slender, straightforward wine, free of artifice, with crystalline purity. The red, an original expression of Cabernet Sauvignon on limestone, possesses the same distinguished elegance. These wines age beautifully for several years in the cellar.

About the wine:

This wine, whose name is a portmanteau coined by its creators, Florence and Denis Dubourdieu (1982), is full-bodied and barrel-fermented. It is bursting with ripe white fruit, framed by minerality and notes of ripe fruit. Best enjoyed starting in 2025.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93-94/100

About the wine:

This balanced and subtle wine has it all. Its elegant bouquet features notes of white flowers and lemongrass, with a hint of minerality, while on the palate it is full-bodied and rich, with a delicate texture and a menthol-like, salty freshness that lingers through the finish. Perfect as an aperitif or with a meal. Very well made.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

Pale color. Intense, refined, fruity, subtle, and fragrant on the nose. Hints of wild strawberry. Superb texture from the first sip, with a bright, vibrant flavor; silky smooth, the wine reveals its delicate aromatic nuances on the finish. It continues to develop in the final moments and ends with a lingering, delicious, deep, and noble finish, featuring notes of Amalfi lemon. A marvel!

Deep yellow color. On the nose: ripe yellow fruit, honey, beeswax, citrus zest, vegetal notes, subtle woody notes, and a pleasant tingle. On the palate, good grip and fine acidity on the attack, juicy, citrus, grapefruit, full-bodied, a touch of roundness as well, coating, nice balance and elegance. Character, purity, and conviction. Nice length as well. An excellent, high-quality wine to pair with Truite Meunière or simply as a luxurious aperitif. Score: 17/20
