Château Lynch-Moussas
Following the division of Count Lynch’s estate into two parts in the 19th century, two major names in Bordeaux emerged: Lynch-Bages and Lynch-Moussas. The Castéja family, which already owned Duhart-Milon in Pauillac, acquired Château Lynch-Moussas in the early 20th century, retaining the estate house as well as a large portion of the land.
Today, Émile Castéja’s son, Philippe Castéja, heads this 55-hectare vineyard, which produces exclusively red wine. The Lynch-Moussas vineyard is planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot on siliceous and gravelly soil. Philippe Castéja’s arrival in 2001 gave new momentum to this classified growth, notably through the renovation of the vineyard and investment in new technical facilities to further elevate the quality of the wines. In 2001,Lynch-Moussas also launched its second wine, Les Hauts de Lynch-Moussas.
