"Perfectly balanced, with lots of charm and deliciousness, it will go far!"

"A Haut-Médoc in Olympic form in this great vintage. The 18 months of aging in barrels have not extinguished the fruit, which is evident on the nose with fresh nuances of blackcurrant, paprika, and menthol, enhanced by a very respectful toasted oak. The attack is soft, the mid-palate full and juicy (cherry, blackcurrant), the tannins fine and very well-balanced, and the finish long and delicately roasted. Rich, vibrant and perfectly harmonious, it will go far. (Guide Hachette 2026) - Delivery in wooden crates is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Philippe Castéja has worked hard to restore a superb family estate located in the Pauillac hinterland. The aging of the vines and the construction of high-performance working tools have made it possible to produce a supple, full-bodied wine that is constantly improving. Its terroir allows it to open up earlier than most wines in its appellation, which should make it more prominent on restaurant menus, offering good value for money.

Decanter

Wine rated (2023 guide) 91/100

About wine:

Juicy and slender, this wine is straightforward and structured, supple and energetic. Its lightness and freshness are very pleasant. The acidity is well present, making it easy to drink and accessible. It offers aromas of strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, and slightly chalky tannins. A fresh and crystalline minerality leaves a pleasant impression of persistence on the palate. This Haut-Médoc is made from a blend of downgraded Pauillac grapes. 2026-2040

About the estate:

Owned since the 18th century by Count Lynch, until it was divided into two, giving rise to Lynch Moussas and Lynch-Bages. Émile Castéja, who joined the family in 1919, took over the estate in 1969 and restructured the vineyards and winery. His son Philippe has been at the helm of this 35-hectare estate, close to Batailley, also owned by the Castéja family, since 2001.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

Philippe Castéja has been breathing new life into this classified growth for several years now. Oenologist Denis Dubourdieu has carried out extensive work here, starting with the restoration of the vineyard. Over the last few vintages, the wines have improved and the château now benefits from technical facilities that should enable it to go even further. Lynch-Moussas produces a relatively fine wine of medium body, which can be drunk fairly quickly.
