Paloumey Castle
In 1990, Martine Cazeneuve, a partner at François Charles Oberthur, acquired Château Paloumey, an estate situated on the prestigious Garonne gravel terroir of the Haut-Médoc AOC, whose neighbors include Châteaux Cantemerle and La Lagune. Her challenge was to breathe new life into this forgotten property, which had already been classified as a Cru Bourgeois in 1932. It was necessary to replant the vineyard and rebuild a winery. After years of dedicated work, the Paloumey vineyards now cover more than 34 hectares. Since 2015, Pierre Cazeneuve has joined his mother Martine in managing the estate. He has begun converting the vineyard to organic farming (the Plume de Paloumey cuvée is certified organic). With a style described as “elegant and refined,”Château Paloumey ranks among the appellation’s finest.

“Paloumey” originates from the Gascon dialect and means “the place where wood pigeons pass through.” Every year, this beautiful migratory bird flies over the Bordeaux region before heading to the warmer lands of the South.
