"A warm, welcoming atmosphere that enhances the taste!"

Plume de Paloumey 2020 offers an initial nose of intense black fruits (blackcurrant), which then opens up to reveal spicy notes. Full-bodied and rounded, the palate is juicy and fleshy, with notes of red fruits (cherry). This cuvée has a very pleasant freshness that accentuates the wine’s rich character; it is perfectly balanced and rounded, with a finish featuring supple, well-integrated tannins.

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1*Star (A high-quality, recommended production that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

Martine Cazeneuve, who already owned property in the Côtes de Blaye, took over this estate on the left bank in 1989. She worked tirelessly to restore it to its former glory, replanting the vineyards and renovating the buildings. She also owns a Margaux estate, Château La Bessane, and a Moulis estate, Château La Garricq. She has just handed over management of the estate to her son, Pierre. Today, Paloumey—currently in the process of converting to organic farming—has rediscovered the classic Médoc spirit that made it so successful.

About the estate:

A lovely sandy-gravelly terroir nestled between the classified growths La Lagune and Cantemerle. The estate enjoyed its heyday in the 19th century, before falling into decline following the phylloxera crisis and being revived in the 20th century. The story would be unremarkable were it not for the woman at the heart of its revival—a woman who, moreover, is a winemaker in the Blaye region. Martine Cazeneuve crossed the estuary in 1990 to acquire this estate, which had lost both its vineyards and its winery. Joined in 2014 by her son Pierre, the winemaker now manages 34 hectares, currently in the process of converting to organic farming.
