About the estate:
Dominated by a beautiful 19th-century mansion surrounded by a 2-hectare park with century-old trees, the estate’s 37 hectares of vineyards stretch across the upper reaches of the Cantenac plateau—a terroir of the highest order—with two-thirds situated on a gravelly ridge surrounding the château and the remainder on clay-rich soil to the west. Owned since 1925 by the Schÿler family—one of the oldest families in the Bordeaux wine trade (dating back to the 18th century)—Kirwan—named after its first Irish owner—is also one of the Medoc’s premier destinations for wine tourism.

About the estate:
The Schÿler family, owners of the estate, aim to establish it as one of the appellation’s leading wines. To achieve this, they have made significant investments, and a new phase of construction has just begun. Under the guidance of Philippe Delfaut, the estate has gained in refinement and elegance, though some of the wines have nevertheless struck us as a bit austere in recent years. Is this just a temporary phase? We’ll need to keep a close eye on them. It’s also worth noting that Kirwan has become a leading destination for wine tourism in the Médoc.

For a classified Margaux, it's a bit lacking. It lacks body, and there's barely a hint of a fruity nose. I don't think aging will do it any favors.
