"This is one of the best vintages I've tasted, and the quality continues to soar! ~ Jeb Dunnuck "

"Lovely fruity bouquet of blueberry tart, blackcurrant and strawberry. The whole is very clean and precise, despite the undeniable generosity of the vintage. A fine balancing act between medium-rare body, good freshness and nicely chiselled tannins, which gracefully coat the palate. A subtle, slender 2020". Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (2020 guide) 4*Stars (Very high quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)

About the domain :

Under the efficient management of Ludovic David, with the full support of the Sénéclauze family, owners of the 40 hectares of vines since 1935, this cru has gradually refined its tannin quality and the integration of its oakiness. Ludovic David has revolutionized the vinification and ageing of this cru with its remarkable terroir, equipping it with the most modern tools, enabling it to rediscover its Margaux typicity and, since 2010, to compete with the best wines in the area.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

Nose of rose and patchouli. The palate is slender and charming, sumptuous yet sober and delicate. Sculpture and persistence are excellent, with true floral aromas and fresh blue fruits with herbaceous notes. Not massively heavy, more linear and concentrated, but with style. Pretty, seductive and lively, all in the best possible way, with a juicy core. An excellent effort this year and a wine that will soon be affordable, but will age well. Elegant, refined, cool and classic. 2025-2039

Wine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (Outstanding wine)

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the wine:

With its dark color, this Margaux needs a little air to slowly but surely open up to complex aromas of ripe black fruits, violets, sweet spices, cedar, mint and licorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety, dense, sappy and well-fruited, supported by an intense tannic structure, before stretching out into a long, spicy finish. 2028-2040

About the domain :

Straddling the communes of Margaux and Cantenac, this cru, founded in 1762, has been owned by the Sénéclauze family since 1935. At the helm of the 40-hectare vineyard is a new manager since 2009, Ludovic David, an agricultural engineer who cut his teeth in the Libourne region, working for Bernard Magrez. In 2019, a restaurant was opened to complement the tourist activities on offer.

Domaine noté (guide 2023) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).

About the wine:

The wine assumes a ripe fruitiness, squarely set on abundant tannins. The whole is still a little dissociated, but you'll have to wait patiently. As we are wont to say: "the tannic mass must polish itself".

About the domain :

Owned by the Sénéclauze family, this discreet cru has been gaining in density and precision for several vintages now. This is due in part to Ludovic David, the vineyard manager, who has taken charge of the vineyards and modernized the winemaking equipment. The desire to produce fuller-bodied wines with more velvety tannins is clearly evident, and all that's missing is a hint of the extra refinement that seems to be arriving with the latest vintages.

About the wine:

This wine presents aromas of graphite, blackcurrant, blackberry, walnut and mint chocolate. It is concentrated and full-bodied, with a framework of polished, firm tannins. Wonderfully integrated and persistent. Firm and fine. Try after 2025.

Wine rated (2023 guide) 94/100

About the wine:

The nose reveals aromas of licorice, black cherry, blackberry, cocoa, crushed stone and violet. On the palate, the wine is silky, smooth and creamy, with a richness of succulent-textured black and red fruits, and a touch of spicy chocolate that stays with you from mid-palate to finish. Drink between 2025 and 2050.
