Château de la Coste is the second wine of Château Paveil de Luze, one of the oldest estates in the Médoc, a Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in Margaux. Coste refers to the hillside (croupe in Médoc dialect). This wine comes from a selection of 20% of Paveil de Luze's production from 30-year-old vines. It has the advantage of being pleasant in its youth but is also suitable for aging. This 2016 vintage is already fruity, velvety, and full-bodied. A lovely promise that is already accessible and a great deal for a Margaux!

Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Following in the footsteps of five generations, Baron Frédéric de Luze took over the reins of the family estate in 2004. In 1992, he and his partner Thierry Decre founded the LD Vins wine merchant, renowned for distributing grands crus classés. His untimely death shook Bordeaux. Since 2010, Stéphane Derenoncourt has been acting as a consultant. The wines are still elegant, refined, and delicate—in short, very Margaux-like. 2015 marked a return to prominence for this lovely estate, and 2016 confirms it!

About the estate:

Dating back to the 17th century, this vast château boasts a rose garden and a 32-hectare vineyard in a single block, located on the Garonne gravels of the Soussans plateau. Baron Alfred de Luze acquired the property in 1862, and since 2016 it has been managed by one of his descendants, Marguerite de Luze.
