"This devilishly charming Margaux has risen to become one of your favorites!"

"Aromas of sweet berries, spices, rose petals, and loamy soil introduce Paveil de Luze 2019. A medium-bodied to full-bodied wine, supple and consistent, lively, sapid, and refined, showing real class and character. Cabernet Sauvignon on gravel is the order of the day, and the result is one of the best unclassified wines in the Médoc this year." (Wine Advocate - Parker 2022) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Winery rated 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

Following in the footsteps of five generations, Baron Frédéric de Luze took over the reins of the family estate in 2004. In 1992, he and his partner Thierry Decre founded the LD Vins wine merchant, renowned for distributing grands crus classés. His untimely death shook Bordeaux. Since 2010, Stéphane Derenoncourt has been acting as a consultant. The wines are still elegant, refined, and delicate—in short, very Margaux-like. 2015 marked a return to prominence for this lovely estate, and 2016 confirms it!

About wine:

Having made steady progress in recent years, this wine continues its upward trajectory with this highly successful vintage. Tactile, silky, and very accessible with its rounded profile, yet without lacking in freshness or structure, it develops a superb bouquet of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant, spices, and humus. A devilishly charming Margaux. 2025–2032

About the estate:

Dating back to the 17th century, this vast château boasts a rose garden and a 32-hectare vineyard in a single block, located on the Garonne gravels of the Soussans plateau. Baron Alfred de Luze acquired the property in 1862, and since 2016 it has been managed by one of his descendants, Marguerite de Luze.

About wine:

A vineyard located in Soussans, in the northern part of the Margaux appellation, has produced this wine with its elegant texture. Ripe black fruits and tannins suitable for aging offer spices and hints of licorice in addition to fruitiness. Drink from 2026 onwards.

Vinous

Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100

About wine:

Paveil de Luze 2019 is bursting with ripe dark red fruits, kirsch, blood orange, rose petals, and spices. Its freshness brings out some of the more exotic flavors. This is a particularly racy Margaux, full of character. The 2019 is impressive, just as it was in the barrel.

Dark cherry red. Nose: Blackcurrant, blackberry, luxurious wood, aristocratic, you immediately smell the level and content. The severity of Bordeaux does not go unnoticed. Beautiful, complex aromas. Palate: full-bodied start of blackcurrant, blackberry, spice, a hint of mocha and again that luxurious wood as a backdrop (not the main focus). The tannins are already nicely integrated, but still finely grained. Beautifully balanced and promising for the future. Peak in 2030. Score: 16.5+/20
