“Aromas of sweet berries, spices, rose petals, and loamy soil introduce the 2019 Paveil de Luze. A medium- to full-bodied wine, supple and well-integrated, lively, savory, and refined, displaying true class and character. Cabernet Sauvignon grown on gravel is the order of the day, and the result is one of the best unclassified wines in the Médoc this year.” (Wine Advocate - Parker 2022) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 2 stars (A solid, recommendable production, though slightly more conventional and uniform than the previous one)
About the estate:
Following in the footsteps of five generations, Baron Frédéric de Luze took over the reins of the family estate in 2004. In 1992, he founded the wine merchant firm LD Vins with his partner Thierry Decre, a company renowned for its distribution of Grand Cru Classés. His untimely death shocked Bordeaux. Since 2010, Stéphane Derenoncourt has served as a consultant. The wines remain elegant, refined, and delicate—in short, quintessentially Margaux. The 2015 vintage marked the return of this lovely estate to the forefront, and the 2016 vintage confirms it!

About the wine:
Having shown steady improvement over the past few years, this wine continues its upward trajectory with this highly successful vintage. Tactile, silky, and very approachable with its rounded profile—yet without lacking freshness or structure—it develops a superb bouquet of ripe red fruits, blackcurrant, spices, and earthy notes. A devilishly charming Margaux. 2025–2032
About the estate:
Dating back to the 17th century, this sprawling château features a rose garden and a 32-hectare vineyard in a single block, situated on the Garonne gravel soils of the Soussans plateau. Baron Alfred de Luze acquired the property in 1862; since 2016, it has been managed by one of his descendants, Marguerite de Luze.

Vinous
Wine rated (2022 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
The 2019 Paveil de Luze is bursting with very ripe dark berries, kirsch, blood orange, rose petals, and spices. Its freshness brings out some of its most exotic flavors. This is a particularly distinguished Margaux, full of character. The 2019 is impressive, just as it was in the barrel.

Deep cherry red. Nose: Blackcurrant, blackberry, luxurious oak, aristocratic; you immediately sense its class and depth. The austerity typical of Bordeaux does not go unnoticed. Beautiful, complex aromas. Palate: full-bodied attack of blackcurrant, blackberries, spice, a hint of mocha, and again that luxurious wood as a backdrop (not the main focus). The tannins are already beautifully integrated but still present with a fine-grained texture. Well-balanced and shows great promise for the future. Peak in 2030. Score: 16.5+/20
