“A wine for connoisseurs!”

Wine rated 17/20 (Top-rated wine)
Rated estate (2017 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
Almost Burgundian in its floral bouquet, which is in no way overshadowed by its pronounced yet elegant oak. Delicate and smooth, it lingers on the palate—unlike most 2016 vintages, which tend to be one-dimensional. Long and distinctive, this is a wine for connoisseurs.
About the estate:
Though somewhat secluded, Château du Tertre occupies a single, unbroken plot on a splendid hill of siliceous gravel. It has been magnificently restored and renovated by its Dutch owner, Éric Albada Jelgersma. Its aromatic character—very fresh and elegant—owes much to the proportion of excellent Cabernet Franc in the vineyard’s blend. Excellent value for money.

Rated estate (2017 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
The 2016 vintage is a delightful surprise; it is well-defined and precise, with flavors that closely resemble fresh fruit and a perfectly balanced structure. A Margaux that is both smooth and well-defined.
About the estate:
Under the leadership of its director, Alexander Van Beck, Château du Tertre has established itself as one of Margaux’s most reliable wines. Following its acquisition by Eric Albada Jelgersma, the estate underwent a profound transformation and modernization. Lower yields and significant investments have produced a full-bodied, lively wine that fully justifies its classification. The most recent vintages have proven particularly successful, maintaining a straightforward style—sometimes a bit austere—but aging well, thanks to a significant proportion of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc in the blend.

James Suckling
Wine rated (2019 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
An extremely deep and ripe nose with aromas of dried fruit, chocolate, and plum that carry through to a full-bodied palate, round and supple tannins, and a savory finish. The wine has a rich, tannic structure. Try after 2024.
