“Right from the start, it displays impressive depth with a slightly smoky character, notes of blackberries, blueberries, and red plums, as well as lovely hints of spicy oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, very composed and linear, with a long, succulent, and regal finish. This wine is exceptionally refined and beautifully balanced, with superb structure. ” (James Suckling 2018) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and selected shipping method)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 94/100
Rated estate (2021 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the wine:
Precise and very well-balanced, with a silky texture; full-bodied and harmonious, of moderate intensity yet with remarkable depth. Best enjoyed between 2021 and 2030.
About the estate:
Owned by the Castéja family and expertly guided by the late Denis Dubourdieu, the wine has regained the fullness of its style, combining the power it often displayed between 1945 and 1961 with infinitely greater purity and aromatic finesse. The wines have improved dramatically since the 2000s and represent one of the best values in Pauillac. Since 2015, a second wine, Lions-de-Batailley, has allowed for an even more rigorous selection of grapes for the grand vin.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
The flagship wine of Borie Manoux, a venerable wine merchant founded in 1870 by the Castéja family—one of Pauillac’s oldest families—which has owned the estate since 1932. A beautiful 55-hectare estate at the southwestern edge of the appellation, it is said to owe its name to a battle that took place on these lands in 1453.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated (2018 guide) 94/100 (Outstanding wine)
Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
Batailley 2015 is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot. It offers a lively, fresh bouquet of blackberry, red cherry, and violet—which might lead you to believe it comes from Margaux! It is, however, very well-defined and gains intensity as it sits in the glass. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins and is certainly more approachable than the Batailleys of yesteryear. It is harmonious and balanced, supple and light on the finish, with a satisfying briny aftertaste. There is something very assured about this Batailley, and it should be enjoyable for many years to come. 2022–2050

Wine rated (2019 guide) 95/100
Rated estate (2022 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the wine:
The epitome of a beautiful, classic Pauillac with great aging potential, it is well-structured, with subtle notes of smokiness and fresh fruit on the nose. Full-bodied and elegant.
About the estate:
Philippe Castéja produces a Pauillac of classic style and structure, which has gained considerably in definition and precision in recent years. The wine also ages remarkably well, retaining a profile that is very typical of the great Médoc wines, combining integrity and precision. Prices remain very affordable. We are delighted by the consistency and excellent quality of the most recent vintages.
Wine Enthusiast
Wine rated (2018 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
Ripe and spicy, this wine comes from an estate west of Pauillac. Notes of fresh fruit, toasted bread, and fine tannins blend well in this rich wine, which is likely to develop fairly quickly—very much in the style of this estate. Best enjoyed starting in 2024.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2018 guide) 95/100
About the wine:
Right from the start, it reveals impressive depth with a slightly smoky character and notes of blackberries, blueberries, and red plums. But there are also lovely notes of spicy oak. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, very composed, and linear, with a long, succulent, and regal finish. This wine is exceptionally refined and beautifully balanced, with superb structure. Best enjoyed starting in 2022.
Jean-Marc Quarin
Wine rated (2019 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
A deep, intense, and beautiful color. The nose is moderately aromatic, with ripe, pure, and subtly creamy fruit. Meticulously crafted from the first sip, it melts on the palate in the mid-palate while becoming powerful; the wine develops with nobility and complexity, offering great flavor and a very long finish. It’s delicious!

The best red Bordeaux I've had in a long time. Fragrant, round, full-bodied, and long-finishing. A beautiful Pauillac!
