2025 Highlights
Pack of 6 wooden boxes

"This is a full-bodied, fresh, and velvety wine. A Pauillac that’s enjoyable even when young!"

“The bouquet of Batailley’s Lions highlights the wine’s identity by emphasizing its Pauillac character, without compromising its freshness. Velvety on the palate, the wine features elegant, juicy tannins, while its structured profile channels its generous character. This is a wine that still has room to improve, both on the nose and on the palate, but one with an undeniable focus: clarity and vigor! 2028–2040” (Yves Beck 2026)

Rated estate (2021 guide): 4* Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

Owned by the Castéja family and expertly guided by the late Denis Dubourdieu, the wine has regained the fullness of its style, combining the power it often displayed between 1945 and 1961 with infinitely greater purity and aromatic finesse. The wines have improved dramatically since the 2000s and represent one of the best values in Pauillac. Since 2015, a second wine, Lions-de-Batailley, has allowed for an even more rigorous selection of grapes for the grand vin.

Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

The flagship wine of Borie Manoux, a venerable wine merchant founded in 1870 by the Castéja family—one of Pauillac’s oldest families—which has owned the estate since 1932. A beautiful 55-hectare estate at the southwestern edge of the appellation, it is said to owe its name to a battle that took place on these lands in 1453.

About the estate:

Philippe Castéja produces a Pauillac of classic style and structure, which has gained considerably in definition and precision in recent years. The wine also ages remarkably well, retaining a profile that is very typical of the great Médoc wines, combining integrity and precision. Prices remain very affordable. We are delighted by the consistency and excellent quality of the most recent vintages.
