Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, along with Château Haut-Batailley, is one of the estates managed by François-Xavier Borie. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is located in Pauillac in the Bordeaux region and its vineyards cover approximately 55 hectares. Its Pauillac appellation wine is classified as a Fifth Growth in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification.
The vineyards of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste are rooted in a terroir composed of the Günzian gravelly hilltops of Pauillac, with a limestone subsoil. The name "Grand-Puy" evokes the privileged location of its vineyard on the heights of Pauillac, where the château rises amidst its vines. The wine of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is made from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, some of which are new. This Grand Cru Classé produces a remarkable wine in the classic spirit of the perfect Pauillac.
