Once again, the Castéjas demonstrate their deep attachment to this vintage through the quality of their wine, which blends equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. With a deep ruby color and violet hues, this 2010 vintage develops an intense bouquet of ripe fruit and blackcurrant, enhanced by subtle smoky, spicy, and licorice notes. The smooth attack preludes a full-bodied, well-balanced palate, both supple and rich, built on fine, lively tannins, with unobtrusive oak. The elegant, long finish confirms the charm of the whole. This bottle will be as enjoyable in two years as it will be after eight or ten years of aging. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2014) A great success!

Wine rated 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About wine:

A classic example of a well-made Pauillac, straightforward, slightly austere, with lovely fruity aromas, hints of cedar, and a beautifully enveloping finish.

About the estate:

It is owned by Philippe Castéja, who also owns Château Batailley in Pauillac and Trottevieille in Saint-Émilion. Well located on the plateau north of the town, the vineyard has always produced a consistent wine, which has gained in elegance in recent years.

About the estate:

The flagship wine of Borie Manoux, a venerable wine merchant founded in 1870 by the Castéja family, one of the oldest families in Pauillac, who have owned the estate since 1932. A beautiful 55-hectare estate at the southwestern edge of the appellation, which owes its name to a battle that took place on these lands in 1453.
