“Extraordinary, combining strength and elegance!”

"The color remains deep. The wine is already showing some development, with notes of truffle, oyster shell, blackcurrant, Asian spices, dark red berries, and cherry. This is a Latour of great elegance, with pure fruit and a silky texture, layers of concentrated fruit, and a structure that will allow it to age for generations to come.” (Jeff Leve 2018) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 3 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

Wine rated 19/20 (Exceptional quality wine)

Rated estate (2016 guide): 5 stars (Exceptional producers, those representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the wine:

A magnificent body with perfectly integrated oak—a great start in life! Best enjoyed between 2030 and 2045

About the estate:

Latour is one of the most famous estates in the Médoc, having, like Lafite, once belonged to the Marquis de Ségur. Acquired by François Pinault in 1993, the estate—which, with the exception of the second half of the 1980s, was the very embodiment of consistency—has not rested on its laurels. Under the guidance of its meticulous director, Frédéric Engerer, Latour has raised its standards even higher over the past fifteen years. The château’s grand vin has never been so harmonious from its very first release, offering—in exceptional vintages—a texture of incomparable density. The conversion of the vineyard to biodynamic viticulture, now well underway, should give it even greater brilliance. The château’s second wine, Les Forts de Latour, produced largely from an independent vineyard, fully deserves the esteem in which it is held, thanks to its remarkable quality. A third wine, simply labeled Pauillac but made with a high proportion of press wines from the great terroirs, ages with panache and consistency. Since 2012, the château has ceased selling its wines en primeur, and the release of older vintages for the three cuvées produced has become the norm.

About the wine:

The aromas are truly magnificent—extremely aromatic, pure, clear, and precise—with notes of tobacco, cocoa, ash, and licorice. Round and heady, this is a sexy wine with a lot to say: generous and open, smooth and layered—it immediately gains depth on the palate. I love the juiciness, the clarity of the raspberries, blueberries, and blackcurrants, the finesse and joie de vivre, but the texture is there, with wet stone and licorice tannins that give this wine grip and power. It is still young and quite serious, but it has something very appealing, with a sexy character and great complexity. Bright and lively, yet with the smoothness of a ripe vintage and savory notes of truffle, cocoa, and dark chocolate that create a contrast. Very pleasant floral aromas of violet accompany the wine from start to finish. This wine is perfectly crafted and delivers supreme appeal. A wine that makes you want to sit back and take your time, before devouring it! 2025–2048

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2019 guide) 3*Top Pick (Exceptional wine)

About the wine:

The 2015 vintage will be remembered as one of extremes and records, with periods of intense heat and drought (June and July) and others of heavy rainfall (August and September). As the product of this extraordinary vintage, this fine wine once again offers a masterful expression of its terroir. The appearance of this nearly pure Cabernet Sauvignon (over 97% of the blend) immediately promises an intense tasting experience thanks to the depth of its nearly black color. The explosive nose, dominated by black fruits (blueberry, blackberry, black cherry), also evokes flowers (violet, peony), leather, coffee, and spices (vanilla, cinnamon). Surprisingly full-bodied, this 2015 offers an extraordinary palate, combining power and elegance with an almost delicate quality in the finesse of its tannins and aromas. The finish, fresh and with exceptional aromatic persistence, leaves an impression of great purity, without heaviness or softness. A wine that remains as unique as ever. 2026–2040

Rated estate (2016 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the estate:

Owner of the estate since 1993, François Pinault can be proud of his investment. The wine ranks at the very pinnacle of the Bordeaux hierarchy; it has continued to demonstrate unfailing consistency for several decades. It is difficult to find fault with Latour, even in less-than-ideal vintages. It embodies the very essence of great Pauillac: full-bodied, rich, and complete, developing a complex and distinguished bouquet with age. There is no shortage of legendary vintages, and anyone lucky enough to have tasted the 1945, 1947, 1961, or 1982 knows what this fantastic terroir is capable of. The current director, Frédéric Engerer, faithfully upholds the uncompromising style. The complete overhaul of the cellars and technical facilities carried out in recent years, along with a rigorous selection process, has enabled the wine to reach new heights. At the same time, Les Forts de Latour has established itself as an equally extraordinary wine, surpassing many classified growths in refinement and depth. Finally, a third label, Latour’s Pauillac, also deserves the attention of wine lovers. It should be noted that since the 2012 vintage, the château no longer sells its wine en primeur, but only “on release” when the team deems it has reached maturity. A unique sales policy for a Grand Cru Classé.

About the wine:

Barrel sample. Highly structured yet remarkably smooth, this wine offers great concentration and powerful tannins. It is wonderfully juicy, and its dense, earthy tannins are never harsh, but always velvety. It will be a great wine when it is released in about ten years. The wine comes exclusively from biodynamic vineyards.

About the wine:

Aromas of iron, oyster shell, rust, and stone, with notes of blueberries and blackberries. The wine is full-bodied, yet remains polished and refined. It rolls across the palate with fruity and savory flavors. Tight, concentrated, and consistently refined. Beautiful length. 97% Cabernet Sauvignon gives it its brilliance.

About the wine:

In 2015, Latour produced a wine that is almost a single-varietal blend, comprising 97.1% Cabernet Sauvignon, just 2.6% Merlot, and 0.3% Petit Verdot. In the Médoc’s finest terroirs, Cabernet Sauvignon is becoming the overwhelming majority and will likely be the sole variety soon. The nose is refined, pure, and creamy. Full-bodied on the attack, powerful as it develops, and rich on the palate, the wine evolves with a noble texture and great depth of flavor, leading to a finely creamy finish rich in aromas. Captivating from the very first sip.
