"An inimitable style!"

"Deep garnet-purple in color, the wine bursts from the glass with an explosive aroma of raspberry tart, blackcurrant candies, rose essence, and Chinese five-spice, giving way to hints of cinnamon stick, dusty earth, pencil lead, and forest floor. The rich, seductive, and full-bodied palate is a hedonist’s dream, delivering layer upon layer of black and red berry jams with numerous fragrant accents, a beautifully firm yet velvety texture, and tons of freshness, finishing in style with a fireworks display of exotic spices. This wine is delicious, but it has the potential to age for three decades or more. ” (Wine Advocate 2021) -Delivered in a wooden crate for any order of 6 bottles of this wine (excluding Pickup Point delivery method)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated (2021 Guide) 5* Stars (Exceptional producers who represent the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and around the world)

About the estate:

This wine has become one of the most sought-after in the Médoc thanks to an extraordinary partnership between Jean-Michel Comme, a passionate and charismatic estate manager dedicated to authenticity, and Alfred Tesseron, an equally committed owner-manager willing to take any risk. Their partnership has enabled the vineyard’s transition to organic viticulture—an inspiration to all their neighbors—and the refinement of winemaking techniques tailored to their quest for authenticity in expressing the terroir and the vintage. There is no longer a second wine; the entire harvest goes into the grand vin. In terms of style, in recent vintages, a portion aged in concrete tanks perfectly balances the oak and releases the full aromatic purity of an exceptional wine.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 19,5/20 (Exceptional wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 3*Stars (These represent the pinnacle of French winemaking. The finest terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical experience)

About the wine:

It is currently in a very closed phase and needs ample exposure to air to open up. The fruit then comes to life and regains its brilliance. The texture is delicately powdery, and the tannins are velvety. A deep, intense wine.

About the estate:

Owned by the Tesseron family, Pontet-Canet owes much to the tireless work of Jean-Michel Comme, who spearheaded the transition to biodynamics and has shaped the estate’s winemaking for some thirty years. He left the estate in May 2020, handing the reins to Mathieu Bessonnet. In any case, the estate is well on its way, and there is no reason to believe it will not continue along the path it has charted. It is now up to Justine Tesseron, Alfred’s daughter and now at the helm, to keep Pontet-Canet in this league of its own. A tour of the cellar, the horse stables, and the winemaking facilities reveals just how far the château has taken its vision of excellence and respect for nature to the extreme—whether the grumblers like it or not. A pioneer, Pontet-Canet has sparked a powerful movement in the Médoc that is now setting the standard.

About the wine:

This wine combines the richness of the vintage with a sophisticated structure of smoky tannins and spicy oak aging. It is still young, with a powerful structure and vibrant aromas of ripe blackcurrant. The wine requires extensive aging. Best enjoyed starting in 2028. Organic and biodynamic.

About the wine:

Ranked 49th out of 100 among the best French wines tasted in 2021: A complex nose of blueberries, elderberries, dried fruit, spices, and dark chocolate. It is full-bodied with a harmonious and balanced texture. The tannins are still firm and powerful, but there is balance and finesse overall. Tight and reserved, yet long and energetic. The tannins are slowly opening up. Dusty texture. Made from biodynamically grown grapes. Try after 2024.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 99/100

About the wine:

With its inky color, it’s hard to see through the glass. The wine opens with notes of damp clay, flowers, black plums, truffle, blackcurrant, and blackberries. On the palate, the wine is intensely concentrated, with seemingly endless layers of rich, deep red and black fruits. The opulence of the fruit, the freshness, and the velvety tannins make you want to keep coming back for sip after sip. The finish, with a refreshing hint of mint and spices, is just the perfect touch. Give it another decade to age in the cellar, and it will be incredible for at least two or three decades after that. Few bottles of this gem will be available, as yields were only 11 hectoliters per hectare due to an outbreak of downy mildew. This wine is a candidate for a three-figure price once it reaches full maturity! Drink from 2032 to 2065.
