“This wine has all the makings of a charmer. Its intense aroma is by no means at the expense of finesse, with boxwood and citrus notes taking center stage (70% Sauvignon). On the palate, its roundness and richness are enlivened by a lovely acidity that carries through to the long finish, evoking peach and lemon.” An exceptional vintage! Eye
The wine has a beautiful, bright light yellow color.
Nose
Very expressive. The aromatic profile is rich and varied, ranging from citrus to white-fleshed fruits, with notes of apricot and a delicate hint of vanilla. The "Carbonnieux style" is definitely present!
Palate
The attack is both smooth and lively. There is a refreshing quality that gives the wine a well-balanced character right from the start. The finish is rich and lingering, with a hint of minerality.

Food and wine pairings
Enjoy with shellfish, seafood, and smoked salmon. The winery’s recommendation: a fish tartare marinated in lime and olive oil...
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)
About the wine:
A very citrusy nose, with notes of bergamot, exotic fruits, and mineral hints; a flavorful palate with good structure, plenty of fruit, and, above all, exceptional freshness. Refreshing and well-balanced.
About the estate:
Owned since 1956 by the charming Perrin family, this great classic of the Pessac-Léognan appellation captivates not only with its production volume—especially for whites—but also with the consistency and distinctiveness of its style. The very pale whites are fresh, lively, and exceptionally refined, but since 2009 they have gained in richness and body. The reds have gained significantly in power and density and rival the very best.

About the wine:
The 2016 Carbonnieux Blanc features fresh white peaches, Bosc pears, and honeysuckle, with notes of lemongrass and yuzu. Medium-bodied and refreshing, with beautifully layered notes of apple and pear, it finishes with a mineral note.

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
Although it lacks a spectacular body, the 2016 white is nonetheless crisp and easy to drink. It’s ready to drink now.
About the estate:
Brothers Éric and Philibert Perrin, along with their sister Christine Lescuyer, continue to develop this important estate, which has evolved considerably over the past decade, consistently producing a delicious wine. The new generation is taking over; the 2019 vintage was brilliantly vinified by the young Andréa Perrin. Elegant and refreshing, the whites have gained in expressiveness while developing more body on the palate. They do not age indefinitely, and we recommend enjoying them within the first five years after bottling. However, a few exceptional vintages may hold magical surprises when cellared. The reds, serious and consistent, though often austere in their youth, have also gained in body density. They never taste as good as they do between five and ten years of age. The vineyard is continuing its restructuring program by replacing the Sauvignon Blancs on the fine gravel terroirs with Cabernet Sauvignon.
