Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
Flanked by Carbonnieux and Haut-Bailly, it is one of Pessac-Léognan’s most effective ambassadors worldwide. The wines—both reds and whites—are powerful and consistently excellent, aging superbly. The Sauvignon-style whites, distinguished and exquisitely fresh, are among the appellation’s must-try wines. The reds now rival the whites, with a powerful and vigorous style that is by no means lacking in elegance.

Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2021 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
Although unclassified, Ch. la Louvière—bordering Carbonnieux and Haut-Bailly—is nonetheless an iconic cru of Pessac-Léognan, thanks to the elegance of its château (designated a historic monument), the age of its vineyard (14th century), the role of its owner (André Lurton, who passed away in May 2019) in the creation of the AOC, and the consistent quality of its wines.

Rated Estate (2022 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the excellence of French winemaking.)
About the estate:
André Lurton, who passed away in June 2019, was a prominent figure in the Bordeaux region and one of the key architects behind the creation of the Pessac-Léognan appellation in 1987. He had acquired La Louvière in 1965 and never ceased to promote this popular, accessible, and consistent wine. The program to modernize and improve vineyard management continues under the leadership of Jacques Lurton, who is also bringing a fresh approach to the winery, with a winemaking process that now places a strong emphasis on terracotta jars.
Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (2026 guide) 17/20
About the wine:
Tasted blind. Fresh, lively, and energetic. A nice balance between fruit and acidity, with a slight, promising astringency on the finish. Hints of grapefruit zest. (JR) 2026–2032

About the wine:
Aromas of sliced apple and dried lemon, with hints of pear and kiwi on the finish, come through beautifully. A medium-bodied to full-bodied wine with phenolic structure that lends it complexity and intensity. Enjoy now.

About the wine:
The bouquet is beautifully expressed, with a multitude of nuances ranging from smoky notes to lime, passion fruit, and white flowers. On the palate, the wine displays both fullness and finesse. It does not seek exuberance, but rather harmony and finesse. A savory, elegant, and persistent wine that can be enjoyed while still young. Now – 2032
