Château Picque Caillou
On the outskirts of Bordeaux, the Picque Caillou Castle is located in the heart of the Graves region, not far from the prestigious Haut-Brion and Pape Clément estates. Located in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the terroir of this 21-hectare vineyard is stony, composed of fine gravel, as its name suggests. It is one of the historic châteaux surrounding the town, the cradle of the Bordeaux wine region.
2006 marked a turning point, thanks to Paul Calvet's management, which focused Château Picque Caillou's efforts on consistency and improving the quality of its wines. Supported by two consulting oenologists, Valérie Lavigne and the late Denis Dubourdieu, and now his team, the estate is constantly progressing, offering elegant wines with purity and fruitiness that reflect their terroirs.
The grape varieties are mainly red, consisting of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot; and for white wines, mainly Sauvignon with a little Sémillon.
