Deeply committed to the environment, Château Mazeyres and its second wine are certified organic and biodynamic. According to director Alain Moueix, “this farming method ensures the long-term health of the soil, enhances the terroir, and brings out the wines’ vibrancy and balance.” The 2020 Seuil de Mazeyres offers a delightful richness and excellent value for the price.

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 3* Stars (A high-quality product that serves as a benchmark in its sector)
About the estate:
As at Fonroque (Saint-Émilion), director Alain Moueix—a talented viticultural engineer and oenologist from a distinguished family of Libourne-based winegrowers and merchants—brings his dedication, expertise, and know-how to the estate. The essential contribution of biodynamics has set this estate on a path of rising quality, earning it a well-deserved promotion. The resulting wines are lively and elegant. The most recent vintages prove to be charming.

Rated Winery (2023 Guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these wineries)
About the estate:
Located at the northern entrance to Libourne, this large estate is managed by Alain Moueix. He applies the same viticultural philosophy here as he does at Château Fonroque in Saint-Émilion. The vineyard was certified organic in 2015 and biodynamic in 2018. Shaped by the very nature of the Mazeyres terroir—which lends them elegance and balance—the wines have reached a new level in recent vintages. We are captivated by these Pomerols, which are harmonious, refined, and natural all at once, with breathtaking finesse of flavor. The time has come for their first star.
