“A model of elegance!”

“Very aromatic with crushed berries and blackberries. Notes of damp earth and great intensity. Decadent. Full-bodied, layered, intense, and very velvety. Extremely long and intense. A sexy, opulent wine, yet balanced and tight. One of the best of all time. Needs at least 3 to 5 years in the bottle.” (James Suckling 2018) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and selected shipping method)

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the nose opens with notes of blackberries, black cherries, and crushed black plums, with hints of spice cabinet, lavender, and cedar. Rated estate (2018 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Beautifully situated in the central-western part of the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau, the vineyard is masterfully managed by the Bécot brothers, Dominique and Gérard, who craft an expressive wine characterized by integrity and density. Gérard Bécot officially retired on January 2, 2014. Overall management has been entrusted to his son-in-law, Julien Barthe, husband of Juliette Bécot, who continues to oversee the winemaking process. Dominique Bécot, Gérard’s brother, remains at the helm of the vineyard. His children, Pierre and Caroline, also work on the estate. In January 2014, Beauséjour acquired Château Haut-Pourret, a 2.5-hectare property on the southern slope, whose grapes will be vinified in the La Gomerie cellar under the label Le Bécot de Beau-Séjour. Winemaking methods are evolving, aiming for an elegant expression of the fruit while seeking to add body to the firmness and length of wines produced from limestone soils. Maintaining its status as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in 2012, the château obtained authorization to incorporate the La Gomerie parcel into its land registry.

Le Figaro Wines

Le Figaro vins

Wine rated (2018 guide) 95/100

About the wine:

The color is dark, with an intense nose, as usual. The wine is dense, elegant, refined, and has great length, though it lacks its usual body and opulence. It is the most elegant wine in a long time, though it may confuse its most devoted fans.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 96/100

About the wine:

Clearly the best ever produced at Beau-Séjour Bécot. You know it the moment you experience the full richness of its aromas of flowers, licorice, smoke, black and red plums, black cherry, espresso, and forest notes. Once the wine reaches your palate, it really takes off with its sensual textures, silky tannins, and a long, concentrated layer of fresh, sweet, and perfectly ripe fruit. As the wine lingers on the palate, the flavors expand, and a sensation of crushed stone also makes its presence felt.

About the wine:

Coffee, a hint of cedar, black cherry, and blackcurrant on the nose, which has a lovely freshness. Juicy, with a smooth attack and a lingering finish featuring notes of ripe black fruits. Elegant and charming.
