"The jury was won over by the subtle, classy bouquet, with just the right amount of black fruit and earthy aromas. Very nice texture on the palate, full-bodied and voluminous, with well-defined, precise tannins, a texture somewhere between silk and velvet, and a sumptuous, harmonious finish. We really liked it. Wine rated (2020 guide) 93/100

3-star rating (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

A beautiful, fresh structure supported by elegant, silky tannins, with a well-balanced, savory finish and excellent length. The higher-than-usual proportion of Cabernet Franc (27%) builds the finish.

About the estate:

This vast 32-hectare vineyard, located on the Saint-Hippolyte plateau, the highest point in the appellation, has undergone numerous improvements and is beginning to eloquently express the terroir, bolstered by its grand cru classé status acquired in 2012. Under the leadership of Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband, the estate has returned to the forefront and has acquired, in addition to new, more modern production facilities, an original wine tourism complex where visitors are welcomed "as if they were at home." One of the most pleasant places in the appellation. Spectacular progress, made possible by a highly talented technical team.

About the estate:

The Gasparoux family runs a 16-hectare vineyard divided between Château Ferrand (acquired in 1934), covering 12 hectares on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau, and Haut Ferrand, covering 4 hectares around the church of Pomerol, acquired in the 1970s.

James Suckling

James Suckling

Wine rated (2021 guide) 95/100

About wine:

Very attractive aromas of plum, chocolate, and hazelnut, followed by a full body with chewy tannins. It also has fantastic depth of fruit and structure. Powerful for this estate. It needs 5 to 6 years to soften.

Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2020 guide) 94-95/100

About wine:

The jury was won over by the muted frills on the nose, which was very classy, with just the right amount of black fruit and earthy aromas. Very nice texture on the palate, full-bodied and voluminous, with well-defined, precise tannins, a texture somewhere between silk and velvet, and a sumptuous, harmonious finish. We really liked it.

Yves Beck

Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100

About wine:

What finesse in this bouquet, which highlights its fruity expression, its chalky terroir, and its aging. The chalky aspect is found on the palate, where the wine has good tension that goes hand in hand with its fullness. The tannins are compact and silky, reaching their fullness at the very end of the palate, which bodes well for the decades to come. Another great success! 2024-2042
