“A vibrant purple-pink color at the rim of the glass. Magnificent, pure aromas of blackcurrant and red cherry, ripe and expressive, with notes of wild berries, cola, and licorice. A silky texture, very refined tannins, and a slightly full-bodied palate without excess, offering just the right balance of roundness and bite. It’s clear they haven’t over-extracted: this wine has life and precision, with concentration, but also a great deal of delicacy. And yet, there is power—a very long finish, with licorice and mint. Spicy, but well-balanced. I really like this wine; it’s a fine piece of work. It offers plenty of structure and tannins, but with real punch and liveliness. One of the best here.” (Decanter 2026)

About the estate:
This vast, contiguous 32-hectare vineyard, located on the Saint-Hippolyte plateau—the highest point in the appellation—has undergone numerous improvements and is beginning to express the terroir with great eloquence, bolstered by its Grand Cru Classé status, which it earned in 2012. Under the leadership of Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband, the estate has returned to the forefront and has equipped itself not only with a new, more modern production facility but also with a unique wine tourism complex, where visitors are welcomed “just like at home.” One of the most pleasant spots in the appellation. Spectacular progress, made possible by a highly talented technical team.

About the wine:

About the estate:
The Gasparoux family manages a 16-hectare vineyard divided between Château Ferrand (acquired in 1934), which covers 12 hectares on the southern slopes of the Pomerol plateau, and Haut Ferrand, which covers 4 hectares around the church in Pomerol and was acquired in the 1970s.

About the wine:
The bouquet unfolds with such subtlety that one immediately senses a dedication to detail, whether through floral, spicy, or chalky nuances. Everything is perfectly balanced, with a clear emphasis on precision. The creamy character of the attack heralds a full-bodied wine that unfolds seamlessly, without a hitch, and features powerful, fine-grained tannins. These create an exceptional dynamic with the acidic structure—which is incisive to boot—and the Ferrand emerges as both lively and vigorous, with a subtle austerity that reinforces the freshness and persistence of the finish. A Château de Ferrand that has reached a new milestone, at least in my opinion, as it is the best I have tasted to date. Sincere congratulations to Philippe Chandon-Moët and Gonzague de Lambert, as well as to the teams, for their ongoing dedication to this magnificent estate. About the wine:
Deep purple in color with violet highlights and a black core. An elegant and refined nose with aromas of ripe fruit, blackberries, juicy plums, and mulberries, with a subtle hint of elderflower in the background. Subtle notes of pencil shavings, elegant roasted notes, and a floral touch. On the palate, the wine is elegant and persistent, with a creamy texture, ripe tannins, well-integrated soft fruit, as well as beautiful depth and length, finishing with a complex aftertaste. A promising bottle.
