Wine rated (2013 guide) 87/100 (Very good wine)

Estate rated "Recommended" (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker—The Wine Advocate)

About the wine:

An interesting blend, an elegant 2010 with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, espresso, and vanilla. The wine is supple, round, and medium-bodied, and will be at its best over the next 7 to 8 years.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 16,5/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2018 guide): 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Without any harshness, the 2010 unfolds with length, revealing a bouquet of delicate notes of blackcurrant and smoky bacon. The greatest vintage in the château’s history.

About the estate:

Ideally situated between Cheval-Blanc, La Dominique, and Ripeau, Château Jean-Faure was acquired in 2004 by Olivier Decelle, who also owns Mas Amiel in Roussillon and a stake in the young Nuit-Saint-Georges wine merchant, Decelle-Villa. Thoroughly reimagined, Jean-Faure reveals, vintage after vintage, striking and exciting similarities to the Pomerol style of Cheval-Blanc, without ever being a mere copy. For Jean-Faure explores, with its Cabernets, a “Pinot-like” fruitiness that is uniquely its own. This evolution was only possible by focusing the estate’s efforts on significant agronomic improvements. Cabernet Franc is no longer viewed here as a mere blending component but is regarded as the heart of the wine.

A wine with very smooth tannins. It's pleasant and a good wine to drink, but you can find just as good a wine for less in Bordeaux.

It lives up to its name. It's not perfect, but it's certainly not far off and definitely has the potential to get there. Good value for the price.
