"Well-styled, it combines the character of the terroir, the freshness of the vintage, and the winemaker's seductive touch! ~ La RVF"

"The 2021 Mondotte has character; it is neither exorbitant nor demonstrative, but rather refined, with nuances of peonies, raspberries, and cocoa beans, among others. The vintage certainly plays a part, but so do the vinification and aging choices. The attack is slender and elegant, while the acid structure takes over and provides support, lending freshness and temperament. A tight but elegant and sapid wine with a mouthwatering and persistent finish. A very fine achievement. Terre de Vins

Wine rated (2022 guide) 97-98/100

About wine:

Spared from the ravages of the vintage, this privileged terroir displays its usual power, but a power laced with finesse. The chalky tannins are present, the aging is extremely smooth, and the acidity expresses itself naturally, with verticality, on a perfectly fleshy texture that stretches gracefully, like "soft power." A propulsive wine.

Wine Green

Vert de Vin

Wine rated (2022 guide) 96-97/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)

About wine:

The nose is fruity, fresh, and offers lovely definition, complexity, finesse, racy power (with finesse), great harmony, and a subtle tension. There are notes of morello cherry, fresh red berries and, more subtly, ripe/bright blue berries, ripe blackcurrant combined with delicate hints of star anise, cinnamon, sweet blond tobacco, a subtle hint of vanilla and toasted/fresh oak. The palate is beautifully executed, offering freshness, juiciness, nicely balanced bitterness, a lovely lingering finish, energy, beautiful fruit purity, richness, fullness, smoothness, and a certain silkiness. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of roasted cherry, pulpy/juicy raspberry and, more subtly, tart/crunchy red berries combined with subtle hints of violet, blackcurrant, star anise, nutmeg, and a discreet hint of sap, toast, and chocolate. Good length.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 97+/100

About wine:

Intense purple color with violet highlights and a black core. Excellent nose, powerful and elegant, refined toast, subtle woodiness, supported by rich fruit. Discreet notes of spices and aromatic herbs add complexity. The palate is well-structured with excellent tannins, firm and ripe at the same time, with great length. An impressive expression of the limestone terroir with minerality, tension, and persistence.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 95-97/100

About wine:

Blends not yet made. Both deep and fruity, the bouquet of La Mondotte 2021 is magnificent, with notes of black fruit, blackcurrant, licorice, graphite, and floral aromas when aerated. The palate is chalky with good structure, structuring tannins, a beautiful acidity, and a light, straightforward finish. A beautiful bottle where the aging process will be decisive in allowing the full earthy power of the soil to express itself.
