Wine rated 15.5/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide): 3 stars (High-quality production, setting the standard in its sector)

About the wine:

A powerful and highly complex nose, with notes of black fruit, resin, quince, and menthol; a dense palate with a solid, flavorful structure, elegant oak, and a long, fresh finish. It has great potential.

About the estate:

Les Ormes may be gone, but the hamlet of Pez is still home to this lovely estate, which was acquired by Jean-Michel Cazes. The winemaking process is overseen by the team at Château Lynch-Bages, lending the wine an extra touch of character and, above all, a great deal of elegance. Thanks to a more meticulous and precise winemaking process than in the past, the wines have gained in refinement.

Wine rated 15/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

This charming estate owes its name to the beautiful elm trees that once graced its garden. Owned by the Cazes family (Lynch-Bages) since the 1930s, Ormes de Pez produces a wine that captivates enthusiasts with its full-bodied, rich, and alluring bouquet. It is generally best enjoyed relatively young and has demonstrated great consistency for over a decade, thanks to the work of a well-oiled team. A great value.

About the wine:

Produced by the team at Château Lynch-Bages, this estate crafts wines in the same generous style. A firm, tannic edge provides structure to the juicy acidity and blackcurrant flavors. Best enjoyed starting in 2018.
