About the estate:

The elm trees are gone, but the hamlet of Pez is still home to this lovely estate, which was acquired by Jean-Michel Cazes. The winemaking process is overseen by the team at Château Lynch-Bages, which adds a touch of soul and, above all, a great deal of elegance to the wine. Thanks to a more meticulous and precise winemaking process than in the past, the wines have gained in refinement.

About the wine:

Intense, powerful, robust, and well-structured on the nose. With excellent energy, this is a high-quality wine—quite bold and rich, velvety, and distinctly powerful—with tannins that are currently at the forefront and completely fill the mouth. It’s also juicy, with vibrant flavors of strawberry and cherry, and a fresh, minty finish. The overall impression is one of great beauty. A wine to be cellared for a few years before opening. 2024–2038

This charming estate owes its name to the beautiful elm trees that once graced its garden. Owned by the Cazes family (Lynch-Bages) since the 1930s, Ormes de Pez produces a wine that captivates wine lovers with its full-bodied, rich, and alluring bouquet. It is generally best enjoyed relatively soon after bottling and has shown great consistency for over a decade, thanks to the work of a well-oiled team. A great value.

Full-bodied, with plenty of tannins and structure, this wine is bursting with black fruit and has a dry core. The wine’s body is impressive, as are its density and richness. Best enjoyed starting in 2026.

About the wine:

It features plenty of spices, such as cloves and nutmeg, as well as black berries, cherries, and a hint of plums. It is structured and relatively full-bodied, with good length and great elegance. It needs time to open up and reach its full potential. 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Very nice right now. Best enjoyed after 2024.

Terre de Vins

About the wine:

In this vintage, the Merlot component of the blend—which makes up half the blend—fully showcases its rich, luscious character. It offers an opulent sensation on the palate, with plenty of flavor. The tannins are subtly present, already integrated into a dense, velvety texture. On the finish, a balance between initial spicy notes and subtle bitterness lends the wine great charm. A real success.

Vert de Vin

About the wine:

The nose is harmonious, elegant, subtly restrained, very discreetly reserved, and offers a lovely finesse. It features notes of plump, juicy Boysenberries, plump, juicy strawberries, and, to a lesser extent, plump blueberries, combined with subtle hints of crushed red currants, lily, and violet, as well as delicate touches of camphor, gray pepper, and warm, earthy notes. On the palate, it is fruity, balanced, and refined, with elegance, tension, finesse, a hint of freshness, a lovely structure, a subtle density, and lovely juicy, pulpy fruit. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of plump, juicy strawberries, plump, juicy raspberries, and, to a lesser extent, plump, juicy blueberries, combined with subtle hints of blackcurrant, blueberries, and lily, along with delicate hints of cherry, warm gravel/terroir, caramelization, tonka bean, and a subtle hint of vanilla bean and hazelnut. Nice tannic structure.
