About wine:
Great color, perfect definition on the nose, with black fruits, cedar, and even a hint of black truffle. Flavorful, well-structured, a model Saint-Julien.
About the estate:
A very fine Saint-Julien with a distinctive, classic style and consistent quality.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)
About the estate:
Commissioned by a beautiful 18th-century chartreuse, this vineyard has been owned since 1821 by the Bartons (Ch. Léoville Barton), a family of Irish origin, and is one of the few estates to have remained in the hands of the same family since the 1855 classification. Lilian Barton has been continuing this tradition since 2006, at the head of a 51-hectare vineyard divided into four large plots located between the villages of Saint-Julien and Beychevelle.

Wine rating (2021 guide) 92/100 (Outstanding wine)
Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
The 2018 Langoa Barton has a deep garnet-purple color and hints of ripe blackcurrant, fresh blackberry, and kirsch with touches of bouquet garni, cedar chest, and pencil lead, as well as a hint of crushed stone. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing with lively notes of red fruit and herbs that enhance the black fruit and an accessible, mellow texture and a savory finish.

Wine rated (2022 guide) 16,5/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2019 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About wine:
Although overshadowed by its big brother Léoville, Langoa never fails to impress. This is once again the case with the 2018 vintage, which offers a beautiful, rich balance and a silky texture. The tannins are beautifully integrated and the oak is subtle.
About the estate:
Although little known in France, this small vineyard produces a Saint-Julien of very fine quality. Owned by the same owners as Léoville Barton, namely Anthony Barton and his daughter Lilian, it has a similar style, with a full, generous body and a very velvety mouthfeel. However, it is slightly less deep and a little more austere when aged, but has shown exemplary consistency in recent years. Its price remains affordable and it represents very good value for money. Widely exported, it is unfortunately not easy to find in France.

About wine:
With a beautiful texture and rich blackcurrant flavors and tannins, this is a generous wine. The fruit and dusty tannins combine well to give structure, concentration, balance, and a fresh finish. Drink this wine from 2026 onwards.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2021 guide) 94/100
About wine:
Currants, cloves, graphite, and cigar box on the nose. Some pine and citrus zest as well. It is medium-bodied to full-bodied with firm, tight tannins. Structured and lively with lots of tension. Beautiful sweet fruit on the finish. Try from 2025.
