"One of the stars of this vintage!"

“The Knights of Védrines, who owned this estate for centuries (until 1840), would be proud of the work the Castéja family has done here. Doisy-Védrines is one of the stars of the 2005 vintage for its sublime elegance, richness, and finesse. A magnificent, delicate, and fragrant nose with a refreshing hint of botrytis that serves as an impressive introduction to a wonderfully pure Sauternes with extraordinary length. The wine is like an impeccably tailored suit on a perfectly sculpted figure. It is strongly reminiscent of their truly exceptional 1989 vintage.” (18/20 Berry Bros & Rudd - Wines and Spirits)

Wine rated 17/20 (Benchmark wine)

4-Star Estate (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French winemaking)

About the wine:

Aromatically well-rounded, with a classic base of apricot and yellow fruits, nice acidity, a long, fresh, very well-crafted wine that feels fuller and more open than last year’s.

About the estate:

This estate, located near Doisy-Daëne and managed by Olivier Castéja, has the same type of limestone soil typical of the Haut-Barsac region and produces a classic sweet wine—rich, full-bodied, and well-rounded—that will appeal to everyone. We’ve come to appreciate the increased finesse it has shown in recent years, thanks to better protection against oxidation. The prices are reasonable.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or high-quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Created when Doisy was divided into three estates, this cru is named after its former owners (until 1846), the Védrines family. It is located near Climens, Coutet, and the two other Doisy estates (Daëne and Dubroca). The château maintains low yields, producing a wine that ranks among the richest on the nose and the sweetest in Barsac. It takes between five and ten years to reach its full potential, at which point it achieves the distinction and brilliance of the appellation’s top wines.
