Bettane & Desseauve

With its exquisite aromatic finesse, the Mont de Milieu Vieilles Vignes embodies the hallmarks of the great Chablis Chardonnays. A subtle smoky note on the mid-palate, resulting from careful aging, complements its refined, silky, and crisp style. A truly beautiful Premier Cru!

Wine rated (2016 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2019 guide): 2 stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the wine:

A wine that is more refined and smoother than the other Mont-de-Milieu cuvée. It’s a shame that the fairly significant oak influence (30%, from new demi-muids) is noticeable; while it certainly adds richness to the wine, compared to the magnificent vintages of 2008 and 2010, it lacks some of the freshness and vibrancy. It remains a fine wine nonetheless, less oaky than the 2014, but it should continue to improve.

About the estate:

This estate's Mont-de-Milieu from old vines is perhaps the best value in all of the Chablis region!

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

The first in the line, Julien Philippon, who came from the Morvan region, settled there in 1868 as a lumberjack and gradually built up the family estate. His heir, André, purchased Château de Fleys, a former hunting lodge, in 1988. A beautiful estate that he passed on to his children, Béatrice, Benoît, and Olivier, along with a 25-hectare vineyard located east of Chablis, on the right bank of the Serein.
