Domaine Au Pied du Mont Chauve

Now based in Chassagne-Montrachet, the Famille Picard winery was founded in 1951 by Louis Félix Picard, who at the time owned 2 hectares of vineyards in the town of Chagny. His son, Michel Picard, joined him a few years later. 

Francine Picard, Michel’s daughter and manager of the Picard family estates since 2007, has been committed to a major restructuring of the 35-hectare vineyard at the Au Pied du Mont Chauve estate. Located in the villages of Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, and Puligny-Montrachet, “Au Pied du Mont Chauve” refers to the nickname given to the hill of the famous Montrachet. Boasting an exceptionally rich portfolio of plots across these three exceptional wine-growing communes, Au Pied du Mont Chauve offers no fewer than twenty prestigious climats, including Les Demoiselles, Les Caillerets, and En Remilly… In an effort to foster synergy between the terroir and the resulting wine, the vineyards have been cultivated biodynamically—though without certification—for many years, and winemaking is as natural as possible. Refined, delicate, and expressive, the wines of Au Pied du Mont Chauve are true gems of precision; their perfectly controlled aging reveals a density full of freshness and rare elegance on the palate.
