Château Corton C.

Reminiscent of the Hospices de Beaune with its traditional Burgundian architecture, Château Corton C traces its origins to the late 19th century in the heart of the Corton hills, along the road to Aloxe-Corton. 

Now classified as a "Historic Monument," Château Corton C is not only a historic gem but also a jewel of Burgundian viticulture. 

The site itself, known as the "Climats de Bourgogne," is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

In fact, Chardonnay has been cultivated here since the time of Emperor Charlemagne and is said to have won over the courts of Europe, earning the unwavering loyalty of the famous writer Voltaire, who was a devoted consumer of Château Corton C.

Today, this exceptional terroir is managed with love and respect by oenologist and winemaker Caroline Frey, who, thanks to her commitment to environmental protection, was awarded the Insignia of Knight of the National Order of Merit in 2017.

Château Corton C has also been certified organic since 2021 and continues to develop methods that respect nature and biodiversity while enhancing its vintages, which are recognized by critics worldwide. 

The soils of the Côte de Beaune consist largely of clay-limestone soils perfectly suited for growing Pinot Noir, which thrives in limestone, and Chardonnay, which loves limestone combined with clay-rich marl. 

Here, Château Corton C spans 7 hectares and covers 13 appellations and climats, including Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault, Pommard, and Volnay. The estate also holds a monopoly on a plot that produces the "Le Clos du Château" cuvée.
