Château Corton C.
Reminiscent of the Hospices de Beaunes in terms of its traditional Burgundian architecture, Château Corton C. took root at the end of the 19th century in the heart of the Corton hills, on the road to Aloxe Corton.
Now classified as a "Monument Historique", Château Corton C. is not only a historical jewel, but also a jewel of Burgundy viticulture.
The site itself, known as the "Climats de Bourgogne", is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Chardonnay has been cultivated here since the time of the Emperor Charlemagne, and is said to have conquered the courts of Europe, right up to the unwavering loyalty of the famous literary figure Voltaire, who was a fervent consumer of Château Corton C.
Today, this exceptional terroir is managed with love and respect by oenologist and winemaker Caroline Frey, who, thanks to her commitment to environmental protection, was awarded the Insigne de Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite in 2017.
Château Corton C has also been certified organic since 2021, and continues to develop methods that respect nature and biodiversity, while magnifying their cuvées recognized by critics around the world.
The soils of the Côte de Beaunes are largely made up of clay-limestone soils perfectly suited to growing Pinot Noir, which appreciates limestone, and Chardonnay, a great lover of the latter coupled with very clayey marl.
Château Corton C covers 7 hectares and extends over 13 appellations and climats, including Corton, Corton-Charlemagne, Meursault, Pommard and Volnay. The vineyard also has a monopoly on a parcel representing the cuvée "Le Clos du Château".
