RVF

The 2013 Soufflot vintage, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, is similar to the 2012 version, enabling Stéphanie Colinot to achieve a second Favorite two years. This is a crowning achievement for the young winemaker, who has mastered the art of aging wine in barrels for eighteen months. The color is immediately appealing with its velvety appearance. Spices add spice to a racy nose with hints of violet and red fruit. With the same aromatic complexity, the palate is frank on the attack, rich, dense, powerful and refined at the same time. Be patient with this bottle, which combines elegance and character and is built for aging." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2017 guide) 2 stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more consistent and uniform than the previous one)

About the estate:

It has now been 15 years since Stéphanie Colinot took over the family estate, one of the most prominent in the Irancy appellation. The range is extensive and offers different interpretations of the terroir in Burgundy's northernmost red wine region.

About wine:

The 2013 Soufflot cuvée, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, is similar to the 2012 version, enabling Stéphanie Colinot to achieve a second Favorite two years. This is a crowning achievement for the young winemaker, who has mastered the art of aging the wine in barrels for eighteen months. The color immediately seduces with its velvety appearance. Spices spice up a racy nose with hints of violet and red fruit. With the same aromatic complexity, the palate is frank on the attack, rich, dense, powerful and refined at the same time. Be patient with this bottle, which combines elegance and character and is built for aging.

About the estate:

Since 2001, Stéphanie Colinot—descendant of the famous architect Soufflot (creator of the Panthéon in Paris)—has been vinifying the most renowned lieux-dits of Irancy (Palotte, Les Mazelots, Côte du Moutier, Les Cailles, Boudardes, etc.), striving to express the different terroirs of her 13-hectare vineyard. A sure bet within the appellation.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About wine:

We change aromatics with the new Soufflot vintage, which requires more extensive aeration. Its wild notes and tannic flesh, accentuated by elevated aging, will require 4 to 5 years in the cellar.

About the estate:

Following in the footsteps of her noble father, the brilliant and dynamic Stéphanie Colinot vinifies Pinot Noir like no one else in the Yonne region; she is able to give it an inimitable color and fruit intensity, as well as great aging potential. Les Mazelots—a blend of Pinot Noir and César, in particular—produces a more full-bodied wine. Côte du Moutier is the most aromatic, while Palotte is the most supple and fruity. The overall value for money, as well as the welcome at the estate, are worth highlighting. The estate is closer to a second star than a first.
