“The 2013 Soufflot, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, is cut from the same cloth as the 2012 vintage, earning Stéphanie Colinot her second Favorite two years. This is a major achievement for the young winemaker, who masterfully guided the wine through eighteen months of barrel aging. The color immediately captivates with its velvety appearance. Spices add a lively touch to a refined nose with hints of violet and red berries. With the same aromatic complexity, the palate opens with a clean attack, rich, dense, powerful, and refined all at once. Be patient with this bottle a little longer—it combines elegance and character and is built for aging.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2017)

About the wine:

The 2013 Soufflot, made exclusively from Pinot Noir, is cut from the same cloth as the 2012 vintage, earning Stéphanie Colinot her second Favorite two years. This is a major achievement for the young winemaker, who masterfully guided the wine through eighteen months of barrel aging. The color is immediately appealing with its velvety appearance. Spices add a lively touch to a refined nose with hints of violet and red berries. With the same aromatic complexity, the palate is straightforward on the attack, rich, dense, powerful, and refined all at once. Be patient with this bottle a little longer—it combines elegance and character and is built for aging.

About the estate:

Since 2001, Stéphanie Colinot—a descendant of the famous architect Soufflot (designer of the Panthéon in Paris)—has been crafting wines from Irancy’s most renowned vineyard sites (Palotte, Les Mazelots, Côte du Moutier, Les Cailles, Boudardes…), striving to express the distinct terroirs of her 13-hectare vineyard. A sure bet within the appellation.

Wine rated (2016 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2017 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

We’re switching up the aromatic profile with the new Soufflot vintage, which requires more time to breathe. Its wild notes and tannic body, accentuated by a distinctive aging process, will benefit from 4 to 5 years of cellaring.

About the estate:

Following in the footsteps of her noble father, the brilliant and dynamic Stéphanie Colinot crafts Pinot Noir like no one else in the Yonne region; she is able to give it an inimitable color and intensity of fruit, as well as great aging potential. Les Mazelots—notably the blend of Pinot Noir and César—produces a full-bodied wine. Côte du Moutier is the most aromatic, while the Palotte is the most supple and fruity. The overall value for money, as well as the warm welcome at the estate, deserve special mention. The estate is closer to a second star than a first.
